Hi Robert,

Not sure how you are holding the gimbal when it begin to swing wildly. See if explanation on 3rd paragraph of this usage guideline helps: http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … c.php?id=4

#102 Re: Product Discussion » The app crashes » 2016-10-29 00:27:13

There seems Bluetooth connectioin problem. Please see if below steps would help:

1. Turn off Phone Bluetooth, kill ProView S3 App process from memory, turn off gimbal,
2. Turn on phone’s Bluetooth
3. Turn on gimbal
4. Press Scan to refresh Bluetooth devices list (skip this in iOS)
5. If you see ProView S3 is in Bluetooth list, press it so that the phone gets paired with gimbal
6. Launch ProView S3 app, then you should be able connect with gimbal

If then able to connect stably, make sure you go over the setup procedures: http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … c.php?id=4

The required 4 setup procedures only need to be done once and the App is not needed later on when shooting video. So if you still have problem with Oneplus 3, before resolving this issue another thing you could try is using another phone to run ProView S3 App for configuring the gimbal if you have a spare phone, but pairing phone auto-tune use Oneplus 3 balanced & mounted on gimbal, using 158 gram entered as Oneplus' phone weight for tuning; assume using bare Oneplus phone first.

#103 Re: Product Discussion » Swings Wildly » 2016-10-28 22:14:37

Hi Robert,

Assume you have done :

1. firmware update
2. sensor calibration pressing from top as latest iPhone Quick Start Tutorial shows,  https://vimeo.com/187616355

If you have not done those steps (step 2 press from top important) please follow the latest version of above tutorial and do it.

Your video show strange behavior. To know why, I need you to help record the whole process of how you did phone pairing auto-tuning, from before powering on the gimbal, until it finishes. After it’s done you can rotate it a bit holding vertical, or turn 90 degree flashlight horizontal and back vertical and see if still behaving strangely. You can also power off gimbal, and power on again. I need you to record the whole process from doing phone pairing to problem occurring; start recording when gimbal is powered off. Able to see how the most important phone pairing process is done allow us to better understand what might be the cause.

It's important to enter correct weight of the phone. Deviated too much will behave strangely as in your video. Also remove case test, with bare phone for now, until getting it work correctly.

Thank you.

Hi Atomic518,

>  unable to pair the Proview S3 with my iPhone

Please try:

1. Turn off Phone Bluetooth, kill ProView S3 App process, turn off gimbal,

If still problem, please provide a video for us to better understand. Thanks.

#107 Re: Product Discussion » Motor Noise Problem » 2016-10-26 06:09:33

Could you try to do leveling calibration before pairing phone auto-tuning, that’s 3:14 ~ 4:10 of https://vimeo.com/187276176 . Instead of pressing lower part to make sure grip holder in the bottom has the surface completely lying on the table, press from the top part to ensure
bottom part complete surface lying squarely on the table for doing this level calibration. Same pressing from top for calibrating the
other side.

Then please see if you can make a video recording of below 2 steps for me:

1. pairing phone auto-tuing process, from before powering on gimbal, to finishing auto-tuning. Would be good if you can video record from similar angle as in tutorial, from the front.

2. do the changing tilt angle testing you did to have the noise issue, please video record from the side, tilt motor axis, so I can better see how you are holding the gimbal when testing.

For all the above, please remove the rubber cap used for portrait shooting mode for now. Thank you.

Hi Jasonhc73, Not exactly sure what you mean. A video showing the gimbal behavior would better clarify. Thanks.

#109 Re: Product Discussion » Reset to factory and start over? » 2016-10-26 01:51:21

The updating firmware method seen in the Quick Start Tutorial (by pressing joystick for more than 8sec...) restore the gimbal to default setting.

#110 Re: Product Discussion » Juddering » 2016-10-25 01:40:14

Please make sure you did all 4 required steps mentioned in : http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … c.php?id=4

If still problem, please make a video, from before turning on gimbal, to problem occurring, upload to your Google Drive, Dropbox, YouTube,...etc and provide a video link for us, to better understand the problem you see. Thanks.

#111 Re: Product Discussion » Additional batteries? » 2016-10-24 14:11:12

Later after we ship out for all backers, will review which single items can make available for users to order. Thank you.

#112 Re: Product Discussion » iPhone 6plus Joystick controlled video recoding » 2016-10-24 05:49:11

To disable Controlling REC function:

1. Turn off Bluetooth of Phone, turn off gimbal, remove ProView S3 App from memory
2. Turn on Bluetooth of phone
3. Turn on gimbal
4. Press Scan to refresh Bluetooth devices list (skip this in iOS)
5. If you see ProView S3 is in Bluetooth list, press it so that the phone gets paired with ProView S3
6. Launch ProView S3 App, then you should be able connect with ProView S3
7. Disable Controlling REC function in the Settings page.

If unable to get it to work, remove App from memory, turn off gimbal, pressing joystick for more than 8sec to enter firmware update mode, run App to update firmware will restore to original state. Later powering on normally and connecting to App, the App will load previously found optimal gimbal parameter working with your phone to the gimbal if you did phone pairing auto-tuning before.

#113 Re: Product Discussion » Additional batteries? » 2016-10-24 05:39:17

Don't think it's available on Internet. But you should be able to find many "18350 battery charger" on Amazon.

#114 Re: Product Discussion » Additional batteries? » 2016-10-22 21:49:00

Search for "18350 button top" on Amazon, look for batteries without protection; the charger already has overcharge protection for the charging battery, and ProView S3 has discharge protection for shorting. Batteries with protection is longer in length, may have problem fitting ProView S3 battery compartment, and has smaller peak discharge current limiting gimbal performance.

#115 Re: Product Discussion » Not Pairing with iPhone » 2016-10-22 13:42:51

Hi bwired,

Please remove phone, flip phone grip 180 degree clockwise over roll axis, then mount the phone. The way you mount the phone is mirror image of what we showed in the tutorials. This cause problems.

#116 Re: Product Discussion » Not Pairing with iPhone » 2016-10-22 11:40:14

Hi bwired,

Not sure if you have chance to read our requirement notice (or something similar in tracking number notice email) of needing user to perform 4 procedures before the gimbal can be used: http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … c.php?id=4  Unfortunately the gimbal will definitely go crazy if firmware is not first updated.

Please follow the steps in the Quick Start Tutorial to perform the required 4 procedures. Also good to pull off the rubber used for portrait mode for now.

If you encounter problem, take a video of the gimbal showing problem, starting before powering on, to when the problem is occurring. Having a video to see, will allow us to identify possible cause quickly. Rest assured that most could get it working without any assistance. Some percentage that need help, the issues usually are resolved quickly if the user could show us a video. Thank you.

The ProView S3 gimbal require the user to (1) update firmware, (2) do sensor calibration, (3) balance the phone on the gimbal, (4) perform phone pairing to tune for optimal parameter; do them in sequence before using the gimbal.

Missing any of the above 4 steps, it will not behave correctly. Please make sure you follow below quick start video tutorial to do all the above four required procedures. Bear with us to spend 8 minutes watching this tutorial video before doing the 4 setup procedures.
https://vimeo.com/187276176 (Android Quick Start Tutorial).
https://vimeo.com/187616355 (iPhone Quick Start Tutorial).
After gimbal is setup, later when using the gimbal, simply mount and balance the phone, hold the gimbal in upright position and turn it on, you are ready to record video using your camera App; there is no need to use the ProView S3 App afterwards beyond the initial setup procedures.

The handheld smartphone gimbal is intended to be used holding in upright (0 degree), upside-down (180 degree), or flash-light horizontal position (90 degree); it’ll maintain steady camera shooting angle if rotated within a range of angle walking or running. Yet it’s not designed to work without any restriction as some might have thought, falsely reporting hardware problem when actually it's being operated outside its intended range. For example, a much more expensive gimbal on the market similarly cannot hold stabilization correctly when operated outside the gimbal intended working range:
http://bit.ly/2eiQR1M all-lock mode failing when operated outside its intended range
http://bit.ly/2dpqXrs pan-follow mode failing when tilt angle rotated more than 45 degree

The joystick is intended to be used this way: To adjust shooting angle to up/down/left/right direction, place the thumb lightly on the joystick, push the joystick slightly up/down/left/right. When reaching the desired shooting angle, pull slightly in the opposite direction to center the joystick instead of simply letting it go making a snap noise. http://bit.ly/2ejAx5H

When reporting gimbal related issue, to allow us to see and understand what might be causing problem, please help make a video recording using another phone of how you hold and maneuver the gimbal:
1. Make sure battery is charged.
2. Remove the rubber cap for portrait shooting mode. (see figure at bottom of this page)
3. Mount and balance the phone. Make sure back of the phone is fully against the phone grip leaving no gap.
4. Begin video recording from when gimbal is powered off.
5. Power on gimbal. Hold it upright on a desk to do pairing phone tuning.
6. When finished, change to pan follow mode, maneuver the gimbal like (4:42 ~5:15) https://vimeo.com/187616355 and see if there is problem
7. Afterwards maneuver the gimbal in the way that you find problem
Please upload the video to your Google Drive or Dropbox and provide us the link.
In case reporting App problem, please also make a video recording from turning on phone's Bluetooth and starting the App, up to the point App problem occurring.
Please post the problem to the discussion forum, http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_forum/, so others can also learn how it's resolved.

Some users experience unable to tilt issue due to rubber cap used for portrait shooting mode interfering. So removing the rubber cap and save keeping it somewhere might be a good idea when first using the gimbal.
