ProView S3 Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: I've done the 4 required setup steps mentioned in ProView S3 Usage Guideline, yet when using the gimbal to shoot video in various holding positions, it sometimes vibrates or goes crazy.

A1: Please go over 3rd paragraph of ProView S3 Usage Notice, http://www.servicenavin.com/proviews3_f … c.php?id=4.

To change gimbal holding positions, first return gimbal to near 0 degree pan angle, then fall forward or rise forward to change holding position as (4:42 ~5:15) https://vimeo.com/187616355 shows. Then one would be able to make shots like this without issues : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doaqm2gydQk

Q2: I’ve done the 4 required steps, yet the phone still cannot level after turning on, and the video recorded is slanted.

A2: (a) When doing sensor calibration, use 3 fingers to press down from top of the grip, assert a little force, to let bottom surface the grip touching flatly on the table. Do this for both sides. https://vimeo.com/187616355 (1:47 ~ 3:15)

      (b) When mounting the phone, tilt the phone upward from the far end to make the phone parallel to the phone grip. The calibration procedure calibrates the sensor inside body of the phone grip; if the phone is mounted slanted, the recorded video will be slanted. https://vimeo.com/187616355 (5:27 ~ 5:35)

Q3: I’ve followed “ProView S3 Joystick Controlled Video Recording Tutorial (iPhone version)”, yet still cannot control video recording on/off of the camera App.

A3: (a) if Controlling REC is already enabled from the App, from iPhone’s Settings App Bluetooth control, first tap the (i) icon of the connected ProView S3 and select “Forget This Device”, then select ProView S3 from “Other Devices” to pair. If successful, clicking joystick should bring up a ringer icon, and camera App video recording on/off can be controlled. If unsuccessful, usually repeating previous step once or twice should get it working; if not, can turn off gimbal, turn off iPhone’s Bluetooth, then turn on iPhone’s Bluetooth, turn on gimbal and repeat (a) again.
      (b) If it still does not work, please take Q&A 7 as references.

Q4: How many phones can ProView S3 pair with?

A4: After pairing with a phone (#1), the gimbal parameters to work optimally with the phone are saved to both the gimbal and the App. Later when turning on gimbal to shoot video, there is no need to run the App. When another phone (#2) of different model is to be used, Pairing Phone process needs to be done again. The new parameters to work optimally with #2 phone are again saved to gimbal and the App. Afterwards the gimbal will work with phone #2 without needing to run the App. Later if wanting to use phone #1 with the gimbal, only need to run the App on phone #1 to connect with the gimbal, once Bluetooth connection is made, previously stored gimbal parameters on the App is loaded to the gimbal; and user can immediately run camera App to shoot video. So there is no limit on how many phones can pair with ProView S3.

Q5: I have problem connecting the App to the gimbal. What can I do?

A5: Please try below steps:
a. From phone's Bluetooth control, unpair the already paired ProView S3 device
b. Turn off Phone Bluetooth, remove ProView S3 App process, turn off gimbal,
c. Turn on phone’s Bluetooth
d. Turn on gimbal
e. Press Scan to refresh Bluetooth devices list (skip this in iOS)
f. If you see ProView S3 is in Bluetooth list, press it so that the phone gets paired with gimbal
g. Launch ProView S3 app, then you should be able connect with gimbal

Q6: Other ProView S3 user’s video didn’t seem to have motor humming sound. When I test mine, there is motor humming sound. What should I do?

First of all, make sure Phone Pairing has been performed before, and phone is balanced prior to powering on to use the gimbal.

When using the gimbal, to have good cinematic result, generally it relies on turning of the body to change camera direction, not by rotating the arm. Try using gimbal the way it’s shown in the above video, holding it upright with the object to record in the front, turn your body to change camera shooting angle. See if motor sound will still be recorded using it this way.

ProView S3 supports mainly upright (0 degree), horizontal (90 degree), and inverted (180 degrees) holding positions and it’ll stabilize within a range of rotation angle. Intentionally holding it at 45 or 135 degrees, outside its intended range, it might vibrate and have noise.

Everyone like to rotate and swing the gimbal upon first use to see how well it stabilize. It could have motor humming sound with such intentional rotation and swings. If using the gimbal in the conventional way described above, then there should not be motor sound issues.

Q7: I enabled the "controlling REC"  function of ProView S3 from the app, and I still have the following situations, what should I do?
(1) I see ProView S3 in Bluetooth device list, but I cannot PAIR it with my phone.
(2) I see ProView S3 in Bluetooth device list and I can pair it with my phone, but I cannot CONNECT it with my phone.

A7: Follow the document https://goo.gl/3Um9aY to update the Bluetooth module of ProView S3.  This is one-time operation; you do not need to to it multiple times.
Remarks: Only Android app is available for now.  If you are using a iPhone, please borrow an Android to update the Bluetooth module.

Q8: I cannot screw the balance weight into the hole. It does not fit. What to do?

A8: For some customers the balance weight screw may have been coated with thicker varnish coating, causing this difficult to fit problem. By making the screw perpendicular to the hole, apply some force pushing into the hole, and turning the balance weight at the same time, one can gradually screw the balance weight into the hole. Make sure the screw is perpendicular to the hole while turning the balance weight. Once you screw it fully into the hole once, later removing it, it’ll be easy to fit the balance weight afterwards.

What version of Iphone 6 software is the app compatible with.

I tried this on two different Iphones.
The app runs but not properly.

Re: ProView S3 Frequently Asked Questions

Hello!

I'm curretly stuck in setting up my device. I watched this video :
https://vimeo.com/187616355
When I first start the app and connect it with the device the software update starts. However, when it's finished the app doesn't close it stays at 100% and freezes. The device on the other hand is shutting down. I tried it on 2 phoes and neither one worked.
Do you know a solution for this?

Best regards

Uwe

Re: ProView S3 Frequently Asked Questions

Once gimbal turns off when App reach 100% it then successfully updated gimbal firmware. Please simply kill the App that stuck, it's not a real problem. We are still trying to find out about this problem, not sure why unable to see the issue on the iPhones we have in the office.
